Here’s a pretty tune . I hope you like it.
Recorded in the early 2000’s, I wrote this song with lush vocal harmony in mind. My friend and colleague Jeremy Sawkins came in on guitar so beautifully complementing that sound. Ralph Marshall on the bass, as always, perfect , and lifts my music to the next level. He’s my 1st call.
It’s the 1st track on the Album SOUL SONG . In some territories that album is called THE BALLAD OF MALCOLM CAMPBELL.
SOUL SONG – available on iTunes , spotify and wherever you get your music
Too long I have wandered
Too far from my secret place
Can I take you and show you
I know that you wouldn’t believe it
Did you sacrifice the life defined by desire and hunger
Only to find yourself missing in action ?
And my soul bares the scars of a girl who’s gone too far
In my soul beats the heart of a girl who wants to much
So I sacrifice the last of what I’ve known so far
If I lay down and die would you save me ?
When you met me we conquered the world that had played itself out but
You came on controlling
I tell ya babe it ain’t gonna happen
Did you think your torn and broken heart would drive me away
I only loved you better .
CHORUS
BRIDGE
There’s no telling where we’ll go from here
There’s no telling what will be
I quite enjoy the view form here
Open the eyes of your heart and see
And my soul bares the scars of a girl who’s flown too high
And it burns like a star being born in the universe
If you sacrifice everything you’ve known so far
Did you lay down and die, thinking you’d save me?
Did you lay down and die thinking you’d save me?
Did you lay down and die ?
