Roxie : The One Take Sessions

The latest installment of the one take sessions is the song Roxie from the musical Chicago.

This was a lot of fun. And I hadn’t heard it in a while. So just having a bit of fun , jumping on the mic. I have to say , music written for musical theatre has a certain joie de vivre , which is probably why I like it so much.

Here’s my take on ROXIE !

Chicago is one of the most popular and successful musicals of all time . The 1996 Broadway production holds the record as the longest-running musical revival and the longest-running American musical in Broadway history.

FROM WIKI : Chicago is a 1975 American musical with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse. Set in Chicago in the jazz age, the musical is based on a 1926 play of the same title by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, about actual criminals and crimes on which she reported. The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice and the concept of the “celebrity criminal”.
