The One Take Sessions
Give Me One Reason was released in 1995 by Tracey Chapman on her breakout album “New Beginnings’. The bluesy pop song was an instant hit!
Today I decided to give it the Deborah Dicembre treatment in one take. Usually when you record a vocal performance you record the song a few times and cut’n’paste till you get the best version . Sometimes you might even go over and over a line till you get it just right.
The experiment with the one take sessions is to show you what can go right and what can go wrong. Yes I leave in all the mistakes. It’s a bit of fun . And takes a lot of courage !
