Simply Being You

Simply Being You is the next big band original song in the Mark E Rabenold and Deborah Dicembre series . And what fun it is !

To catch you up : A number of months ago, thru’ the wonders of the internet , I met a very talented songwriter. His name is Mark E Rabenold of Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA.

A little about Mark :- He began taking clarinet lessons in 4th grade, then added saxophone, flute, and piano during the following 7 years.  After graduating from Boston’s Berklee College of Music in 1977 he returned to Pennsylvania and began performing with various musical groups including a 17-piece swing band. For over 40 years he worked in countless musical theater pit orchestras . He wrote his first song during his 1st year of high school and has continued to compose both music and lyrics for over two-dozen songs during the past 50-years.

Mark’s songs are a standout. He has a firm grasp of bigband swing jazz composition and arrangement , well crafted melodies and catchy clever lyrics. Anything I’ve heard of his original material could easily slip into the American Standard Songbook. It’s a joy for me to sing these tunes and this is the third one, now completed that I am able to share.

Since recording these songs with Mark it has reignited my love of swing and bigband jazz. Working on these particular tracks has given me a new respect for how a big band arrangements come together. Now I’m listening to old favourites with new ears ! All the Ella Fitzgerald material that I’ve loved for decades is fresh once again . So lovely !
